The evolution in time of a typed word in the font as a series of steps
Fads are a social phenomenon, where a product or action rapidly gains popularity that then equally fast declines again. The mass behaviour of people following a short lived trend shows paralleles to self organising swarm behaviour as seen in nature.
The goal of this project is to create an interactive animated font that mimics this behaviour.
The letters are formed by particles that react to key strokes like a crowd to a fad: they are attracted by it until something new (another key stroke in this case) appears.
The five key steps in the evolution of a fad (initiation, chain reaction, peek, termination and extinction) applied on the letter G. In analogy to actual fads, the thin core line is what remains there and makes the letter still readable after the next key stroke.
